In recent days, the Henderson County Detention Center has received several calls from family members of inmates currently housed here. They are advising the detention center that they have been contacted by individuals posing as correctional / law enforcement officials. They are instructing the family members that the incarcerated person has a bond and can be released if they are willing to follow the instructions of the person or persons making contact with them. These callers may have accurate information regarding the inmate’s status, and have been successful in contacting close family members who are seeking information regarding the appropriate steps one would take to post bond and get their family member released from jail. Neither the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office or HCDC will ever reach out to family members of incarcerated individuals requesting that bonds or any part of a bond be posted online, over the phone, or in any other form.
